You're not a true ARKS Operative until you've gotten your first Mag! Learn more about obtaining and feeding your new favorite companion!
Ever wanted a little mechanical buddy? Then you’re in luck, because we’d like to introduce the Mag. An equipped Mag will support the player by not only boosting their stats, but also providing offensive and healing support, in addition to other perks! By carefully choosing what you feed your Mag, you can either help or hinder their ability to help you; so, it’s important to pay attention! After all, you are what you eat, and a Mag is no different.
OBTAINING YOUR FIRST MAG
Mags can be obtained by completing Permit Officer Cofy’s Client Order, MAG LICENSE TRIAL. In order to experience the effects of your Mag, it needs to be equipped, so make sure to do this from the MAG sub-menu option under the MAIN MENU. If you have multiple Mags, they will all be displayed here. For those who have a Pet —Summoners, this means you— the Mag will be hidden while your Pet is out, but you will still receive the stat boost and any effects it may provide.
FEEDING YOUR MAG
Like all lifeforms, Mags need energy to function. The operative has the responsibility of providing this in the form of weapons, Units, support items, Furnishings, and any other items they don't need. Feeding your Mag will both increase the potency of the stat boosts the Mag provides when equipped and increase the level of the Mag itself. Once the Mag’s level has reached a certain value, the Mag will evolve and transform, gaining additional abilities! Mag abilities include the use of Auto Actions—automatic attack and support abilities— and Trigger Actions, which are attacks and support abilities that the Mag will perform in response to your movements and vital signs.
By selecting “Use Device” from the Mag sub-menu, you can use a MAG DEVICE to customize your Mag’s appearance or abilities. Devices can be obtained from the Photon Drop Exchange Shop or Ex-Cube Exchange Shop on the second floor of the Shopping Plaza. The Mag Menu is also where you can change your TRIGGER ACTION PRIORITY so that your Mag responds according to the priorities you set for it. For instance, if you’re at extremely low health, but the occasional stat boost ability is due to come up, you want to make sure you get healed first before the boost is applied.
The trick to raising a useful Mag is to feed it so that it gains levels in the stat that would most benefit the operative’s class of choice. This means that as a Force, for instance, you’d generally want to feed your Mag to increase the Technique support stat and avoid feeding items that increase undesirable stats, such as ranged attack support. Of course, different class builds may prioritize different stats than others, so it’s important to consider your playstyle as well!
See you in the game!
